so stemming from a discussion in the Monster Track thread I want to do a dinner ride. I'm envisioning something on a Fri or Sat night. We'd meet at a downtown location, a bar for an early drink or something, then ride up to Candle or somewhere else uptown for dinner, then ride down to Atlas or Babycakes for dessert, then over to Brooklyn or something for drinks. of course all stops are negotiable. would anyone else be into this?

i'd be down for a vegan ride. one of the waitstaff at candle cafe, thad, has a sweet rensho conversion.

would be better if it was a big homemade moving feast.
restaurants take a lotta time and servers get pissy when big groups come thru
and somehow, money is always short/an issue in the end

if you dont go to grub on sundays by now, you should
its every 2nd sunday at flushing & classon (rubulad - former happy bday hideout)
everything is dumpstered, you pay donation only, and the chefs are ****ing awesome
dedicated people who love the ideas of cheap communal eats
vegan/veg everything
and it can hold 200+ people, and does

it is kind of like that vegan brunch in sf on 24th (cant remember correctly)
homemade, and beautiful.

i would be down to do something like that, then ride to drinks, snacks.

yeah, i was contemplating a homemade movable fest, but that seems like it would mean some people who wanted to be involved would have to stay at their homes to prepare food. i've done it before though, where it was essentially tapas, but each dish was at a different house. good times.

reservations at candle 79 would solve the big group issue.

we could do a potluck, where everyone just brought a dish to someone's house... but riding with food can suck sometimes and limits what ya can make.

i'm up for several food related rides though. two of my favorite things on earth, combined!

What's the TIME for the grub on Sunday at Flushing & Classon? Does it still happen even if it's raining or snowing?

Thanks.

My friend, who also rides, waitresses at that swanky vegan place on the UES (79th and ????) perhaps if she's off she can ride with you guys and apply her discount.

+ 1 on wanting more info about this dirty-hippie-punk vegan hoedown you speak of. I've never heard of it but am BIG TIME interested in going. That's not to far from where I live, too!

i also think it should be a formal dinner ride, tuxedos and evening gowns all around.

How about Casa de Pollo Peruano for Peruvian chicken (or Pio Pio on the UES) or El Manara for the ultra dope Armenian chicken (also in Queens -- just like Zankou Chicken for you ex-Angelenos...)

if ya got a li'l jack in yer shants go to angelica's kitchen (around 11th and 1st ave i think) or the hare krishnas have a free vegetarian deal at their place on st marks on monday evenings. ya gotta chant ("hare krishna hare krishna hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare hare hare krishna hare krishna") and listen to a talk first though. but their food is way good.
