Road Cycling - I bought my first road bike today

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I bought a bike today and went for my first ride. Only one word to describe it..............AWESOME! I decided on the Giant OCR 2. My butt hurts but I can't wait to start doing some heavy riding.
Congratulations, I bought my first in May of this year and have just rolled past my 4000km target for the year. I find the same thing with my saddle (Trek 1000) and it will probably be one of the things that I change at the beginning of next season.
Sounds like you're hooked. :D
Congratulations and welcome to the club.
A great feeling. Isn't it? I've been using my OCR 1 for less than a year. Getting my first road bike reminded me of something a friend of mine told me when he helped me set up my first stereo system.
He said, "No matter what I ever do in the future in the way of listening to music, nothing, absolutely nothing, will ever seem to sound as good as the sound of the first real stereo system."
I feel that way about my road bike too. There are many better bikes. Someday, I will likely own one a good deal better than the one I ride now. Yet, I don't think any future improvements will feel as good as that first road bike.
