There was a movie I saw, maybe 10 to 12 years ago. The main guy was semi ******** and worked in a bakery. Everyone made fun of him and he laughed along, he didn't know any better. Then he tried and expereimental drug that made him a genious, for a time. The animals taking the drug started dying, I think, But he knew he would be going back to being ******** again and was giving seminars to doctros trying to teach what he could befor he forgot it all. I though it was Matthew Modine (Vision Quest) playing the main part, but I can't find the movie in his filmography. Anyone know the movie. Might have been made for TV. I though it might be Jeff Bridges too but nothing in his filmography either.
Thanks, Darin

Sounds like the plot for the 1968 movie "Charley". Cliff Robertson won the Oscar for best actor.
Adapted from the novel Flowers For Algernon. A classic last line... "and please put some flowers on Algernon's grave."
That's it, thanks so much.

The movie I saw was made in 2000, with Mathew Modine. Turns out there is an older version from 1968 that seems to have much better reviews. I must check it out!
