Foo - Got a graphing calculator today, the basics?

Today i got a Ti-84 Plus Silver edition graphing calculator. It is good to have for algebra and chemistry, and necessary for precalc and physics next year anyways. What are some basic functions i should know? I would like to be able to get an equation solver on there, i know some of my friends do that.
All i know how to do is basic mathematical things like addition, powers, roots, and i know anything and everything about matrices.

You'll figure out what you need as you take each math and science class.
You'll probably use it a lot in physics, algebra, and calculus.
They're easy to program once you get the hang of it.

The Casio FX-7400G Plus (http://www.casio.com/products/Calculators_%26_Dictionaries/Graphing/FX-7400GPlus/) has a lot more features and is only $39. :o

But honestly, just play around. No need for the guidebook. its just a bible of blah blah blah.

There is a 2nd button in the top left that allows you do input all the little yellow lettered things above some of the keys. There is also a turqoise ish ALT key that works like the 2nd key just inputs different things.

I though my job was going to be cut to part time starting Feb 15, but we FINALLY got our grant last week so I should be full time until Sept 30, 2006. It's an 8 month grant. Not sure what will happen after Sept. Maybe I'll win the lottery. :lol:

I don't know a thing about graphing calculators----I *only* use maple, so a GC is kind of stone age :) ----but as Hi565 says, play around with it, it really does help familiarize you with the functions.

I hate stupid people who do that. So many people at my school have gotten ipods and such stolen.

I got my Palm Zire 72 stolen :( with an expensive memory card in it :mad:

2nd and then alpha and you can type letters in it :)

and hit programs, and go down to the game pack.

i like to make shapes using 1s and 0s like diamonds and triangles. this has gotten my calculater revoked many times though :(

i have an HP 48G that im going to stick on ebay because i NEVER use it.

How do you load the 'games' onto the Ti-84Plus? I've downloaded snake or something, but i dont know how to transfere into onto the calulator?!?

the "games" on calculators are entirerly overrated. If you really want games buy an oldschool game boy for about 5 bucks, way better then anything on a TI.

but can you pull out a game boy in math and look like your studying? I dont think so... ;)

If you don't already know, learn how to use the basic graphing features. Since you have a TI, it shouldn't be too hard to find someone who can show you how to do it (I have a TI-86, so the actual buttons might be a little bit different).

I want like one game. I've downloaded it off the net, it was like 2kb. It was tetris or snake or something (my god they even have pokemon).

How do you transfere it!!!! Like what settings do you go onto in the calculator when its plugged into the usb thingy.

I believe you install the CD that came with the calculator. Then the calculator connects to computer via USB cable (included with mine). I am not sure, it i think from here its click and drag into removable drive
