Bicycle Mechanics - bottom bracket compatibility

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've got a deal on a Dura-Ace crank to replace my 105. How do I know if my bottom bracket will be compatible, or, how do I know, if I want to also replace the bottom bracket, what to get?

You need to specify which 105 cranks you had (model no. if possible) and also the model of DA cranks you've bought. Otherwise, we're all just stabbing in the dark, and that always ends in someone getting hurt!

Matt's right - there are lots of DA cranks, multiple square-taper models, and splined BB models as well, not to mention the new integrated-BB models that certainly won't use the same BB as your old 105, whatever sort it is.
Sheldon Brown has a database of Bottom Bracket spindle lengths that go with various cranks. Take a look:

My present crank is a 105 (triple), model FC 5502/5505, but I don't have access to the DA crank to get the model #. My present BB says "BC 1.37 68." Does that help? What model DA will fit my BB? Thanks for the help.

I would suggest go to Shimano's web site for assistance.
your BB requires a crank with an octalink V1 interface. like this:
