I've been reading about cyclocross and sounds like alot of fun. There is a cyclocross race next weekend about a hour away, probably go down and take my son to go watch it. Only thing I'm a bit conrfused on is how is cyclocross pronounced? Cycl I understand and Cross but how do you pronounce the o, silent long...

Okie one more question, I like campy (I don't want to start a debate here), I realize I could change the larger chainring on a campy crank, but would it be possible to use a tru-vativ or other crankset with campy components? This would be on campy 9sp.

Hi Kev.
Question 1: cyclo-cross
Question 2: I belive the bolt hole pattern for the Campy is different from your crank arm, so therefore incompatible. Good luck.Zach

most cranks use shimano's bolt pattern (130mm, I think). Campy rings are 135mm so they are incompatible.
Also, Campy uses a square tapered spindle bb and most are Shimano splined or square-tapered (not Campy compatible) spindle.
Some offer Campy compatible cranks like FSA. Otherwise you have to change the bb along with the crank if you want to go aftermarket.

I know I have a FSA campy compatible crank on my one road bike, had to change the BB to a ISIS. Bad move I decided since i had extra crank i should get another bike hehe now have 2 road bikes :)

Will a let's say a Shimano Crankset work on a campy drivetrain?
