I cry as I type this ... My brand new (NOS) Coppi frame made of Columbus Genius took a bail into the edge of my coffee table late yesterday afternoon. It hit the edge of the table with the left seat stay near the brake bridge, the resulting dent (no paint chipped) is about <1/16" deep ... So, should I be concerned about this or consider it to be an unfortunate bit of customization?

Kick back, pour yourself a Gansett cuz you're not going to be riding in that foot and a half of snow anytime soon (grew up there, left in '78). Seriously, that really sucks but it shouldn't adversely affect the frame's performance.

Ummmm.....Columbus Airplane, Altec, Starship, XLR8R, Zonal, to name a few are all aluminum.

Dent. Not to worry . A small dent in a steel frame isn't anything to worry about especially where it occurred. Just enjoy your bike. No one will ever notice it but you.

Columbus Genius tubing was first produced in 1991 or 1992. It was it was some of the first shaped butted tubing. It is a Nivachrom steel which is a very good alloy. One of my bikes is an Ionic (2000) made with Columbus Foco tubing. Light and very strong. I probably would take a 16# sledge to the coffee table just to feel better...!

Spinbackle is right on the tubing.
