After a nice light breakfast of toast and honey, Eli and I ventured out to town by bike for a little sight seeing and also to pock up a few things. I bought a new rear tire. Eli gave me a nice thick one as well for a backup or to go trail riding in. We rode uphill to the Astoria Column, a nice landmark that looks over a lot of beautiful river scenery down below. We got out the hacky sack and had a nice session in the mist. After a while, we walked up the spiral staircase to the top of the column and checked out the view. We had some good conversation and then decided to head back to town for some lunch. Eli and I cruised downhill. It was fast and fun. Eli had taken his three-speed cruiser up to the column, it was quite impressive seeing him huff it uphill on the heavy bike. We stopped at the grocery to get a few ingredients for a nice coconut curry lunch. At home we cheffed up a great meal and ate like kings. Like a true cook, Eli was fixed on preparing dinner right after finishing lunch. He filleted out some salmon and put a nice marinade on them for dinner. After the preparations were made we took a ride out to the South Jetty of the Columbia River at Fort Stevens State Park. We checked out the spectacular wave action hitting a big man made breakwater. Eli, Rachel and I took a walk on the beach to a prime hacky sack spot. After a great session, we headed back to the car to get back home before dinner. Eli got busy in the kitchen after a shower and I went in to clean up as well and get ready for a tasty meal. Sara and her 4-year old son Philippe came over to help us enjoy great baked salmon with a smoky crust, broccoli and pesto pasta. After a great meal and a smoke, we enjoyed a cheesecake dessert. So far my visit with Eli was like being at a 5-star restaurant but with lots of other fun activities. Eli’s housemate, Jesse, who is also an observer, came home from his climbing trip with his sister Liz. After Eli and Sara went to her place for the night, Jesse and I talked for a bit. After a visit from Pete, who came by to say goodbye, we all hit the bong to finish off the night. (8 miles)

Peace

Dave
