Foo - woohoo! the lounge is mine!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Actually, it wouldn't be too hard to verify whether Pink_Ninja did at some point near the point in time where he posted the OP own the Lounge. Presumably, from beginning to end, this feat was accomplished within a matter of a few minutes. With an average posting rate of 3.5-4 posts/minute (admittedly not a very steady rate), that means BikeForums as a whole probably had no more than 30-50 posts in the time Pink_Ninja took to pull this off. Since the posts are systematically numbered by the server, it's not too hard to reconstruct what happened when (on the forum at large) and verify Pink_Ninja's claims. That isn't all too many to wade through. And no, you don't need mod privileges or anything like that.

Note: I haven't actually bothered to do so in this case, but I have done this in the past to verify certain things in the now deleted "sig test" thread.

By the way, yes, I acknowledge that I dedicated way too many brain cells to figuring out the workings of this forum back in the "sig test" days.

See, that wasn't too hard now was it. :)

the next step to your forum-jedihood is to have the entire front page of the roadie forums.

Good luck young padawan.

the road forum moves faster then any other forum on this site, the force would really have to be with you.

Uhhh.... why is this a cause for celebration or even noteworthy?

I've seen a couple of threads with this "claim to fame" lately and I just have to wonder how sad it is that that becomes a noteworthy acheivement in someone's life.

Back in the sig test thread heyday, Foo moved by far the fastest. I got addicted to Foo while participating in that thread since the rest of the forum seemed to have glacial posting rates in comparison.

But yeah, I dare anyone to try to get the top page (not counting stickies) in the Road Cycling forum.

A feasibility study:

40 non-sticky posts currently in the first page of Road Cycling. So a minimum of 20 minutes to get the entire first page. In the wee hours of the night (US time zones) on Friday or Saturday night, you may well be able to pull this off. The few times I've been on at that time (occasionally when I get back really late and quickly check the forums before bed; once, I was on for an hour at that time due to insomnia before my century attempt), you get about one post every 3-5 minutes. So you respond to all those, and you take perhaps 25 minutes to pull off the task.

However, more unpromisingly, there is almost always at least a dozen people online there. If you post a post every 30 seconds, there is likely to be a higher response rate than the norm. I think it's still doable, but I believe it would take at a minimum 25-30 minutes of work. And you would really have to post just for the sake of posting. I doubt you could pull it off with posts that contribute meaningfully to the forum without taking an hour or more.

not to mention, its quality not quantity right.

ill admit, when i realized i had the new post in foo, entertainment, and jokes I thought about this thread and figured i might as well go post something in the P & R just to get the screen shot. Didnt really contribute to the Topic much, just posted something.

HTML cheaters are not allowed into the Jedi council. Sorry, but it is readily verified that you cheated. For starters, there are posts showing zero replies for which the thread starter and the last post username are not the same. Nice try, though. :)

Just you wait. This time next year, this will become one of those things you'll see televised on ESPN2 or ESPN3 in the middle of the night. :D

^^^A lot, evidently. I sure ain't gonna try!

If anyone manages this feat, I'll be happy to personally verify the claim. Until (unless?) someone manages this feat, I will not outline how the verification process works since it might expose weaknesses in the process, encouraging someone to try to trick me. I don't think such weaknesses exist, but I haven't given it much thought and don't know for sure. But for claims of owning the first page of Road Cycling that I can verify to be false, I will explain how I know they're false.

...oh, and nice try to spoof it :p

....what you need is battle tactics. Take this from a person who at once time made over 180 posts in a day, just to have my name clogging up the main and flame sections of the boards (yes, the forum I was part of put me on a 48 hour ban for that).

For starters ditch MSN Explorer or what ever that THING is that you are viewing BF's in. If you'e got the skills to HTML cheat - then you should know better. :D
