What equipment do you use to put weights on your body when doing situps / crunches ? I can put 140 on my bowflex and do a crunch but I am not sure how effective that is

i just hold a dumbell with each hand with the flat ends of the dumbells against my front deltoid... kinda like if i were doing shoulder press but with the weight in the front.
