So I see this thing that says stability balls make for good ab exercisers.

and there are balls out there to accommodate ANY size...just not at Xmart stores.

You can do a web-search to get an appropriate size. Most any ball of decent quality will be sturdy enough. Also give some consideration to the material. Some are smooth and kind of slippery. A "grippier" rubber works better. Then, there's color. Steer clear of the pinks and turquoise balls. ;)

I did a web search, and the chart said 55cm. My wife is 5'2" and I'm 5'8" and we both thought that was kinda small. Will
defintely look for grippy!

I think 55 would be small for you.
Here's what I have, tho' I'm pretty sure I paid less than $40 for it. (Got it through a local trainer.) It looks sort of purple in the picture, but it's actually gray.

FWIW, a yoga mat is a good accessory to use with the ball. Easier on knees, etc., and feet and ball stay planted instead of slipping when doing crunches, planks, etc. For those, Tar-jay or equivalent is fine... figure $10-$15.
