Anti-corrosion/rust spray

Hi all,

I have a Burley Fox Hollow road frame. This frame is a chromoly one (True Temper OX Platinum) and I love it so much. :)

The outer paint job is very good to prevent the rust/corrosion, but I'm worrying about the internal of the frame tubing and possible paint abrasion. :o

Is there any good spray to prevent rust/corrosion for the chromoly frame? ;)

I just found a rust inhibitor (LPS 3) at Ace Hardware web site below. Can it be used for the rust protection for a chromoly frame?

Yes. That's what I used. I bought it at an aircraft supply outlet. If it's good enough for the aviation industry it should work on a bike.

Absolutely. After all, Reynolds 531 was used in Spitfires and other war planes before it was used for bike frames.

Well, the "protects for up to two years" doesn't inspire confidence. It probably works for longer inside a frame though.

Also, it's worth mentioning that Weigel's frame saver (with is worth buying if you've never rustproofed a frame before, because it comes with detailed instructions on how to rustproof a bike) is the same stuff as Amsoil's Heavy Duty Metal Protector (HDMP) which is available at some hardware or auto-parts stores.

Finally, it's good that your frame is Hollow. Those solid-tubed steel frames can be rather heavy :D

Hey, do you know where one can find a copy of the Weigel's instructions? Do they have a website? I bought the only can I could find in my area but there were no extra instructions included (and the kid in the LBS was pretty clueless).
