I have a 7701 Dura Ace double crank. It's a 52 outer - 39 inner ring. What is the smallest tooth count inner chainring that I can bolt on? I plan on doing a lot of climbing this - next year. I combined 2 cassettes and now have a 13-28 cassette and it works great with my Dura Ace rear derailleur. I just want to have a bail-out setup just in case I need it.

Thanks in advance for any assistance or input!!!

A 38 is the smallest rigng you can get on your 130BCD.Your RD will probably shift a 30 large cog if you want to go there.

I have looked at quite a few sites and have not found a 38... do you know anywhere to get one?

Thanks Pokey

Harriscyclery.com lists one. I got around this by using a 110 BCD crankset which allows you to go as low as 34. Wimpy as it may sound, I am thinking about putting on a longer bb spindle and trying a 110/74 BCD triple with a 28 in the small ring position, a 46 in the middle and a cyclocross chainguard ring on the outside. I realize that the 16 T jump from 28 to 46 is extreme and may not work with my front der, but I already have the parts so what the heck.
FWIW,
Raymond
