I have a Yamaguchi pursuit frame that I love absolutely to bits and ride now as a street fixie. The finish it came with is quite captivating, and I'm looking into getting the same finish, or one like it, but another color, on my new bike. However, I have no idea what sort of paint/powdercoat/whatever it is..
I'm going to burn in hell for this sh(te camera-photo, but it'll give you an idea of what it looks like

It is an almost iridescent, matte metallic grey. You can see the silver of the fillet brazes right through it. The finish itself may not even be metallic, just translucent enough to let the shine of the steel come through. Basically it is simply extremely even, slightly translucent, and silky smooth.
It picks up dirt a little more readily than I'd like, but I've come to love its subdued but sexxay lustre more than my shiny painted frame. It seems too uniform to be canned spraypaint, but I could be wrong.
Any ideas? I'm hoping its some type of powdercoat, because that would be both less expensive to apply to the other frame and more durable overall, I think.
