The incendiary "I'd been drinking..." thread awhile back got me thinking:
Just what IS everyone drinking?
When I can afford it, I prefer:
BEER: Lagunitas IPA, or anything with mass hops and a high alc.%
WINE: Black Mountain, just cuz the name is badass
BOOZE: some good Scotch, like Laphroig, it's like a peat fire in yer mouth
When I'm broke:
BEER: Ballantine's 40s
WINE: Charles Shaw, what else? Carlo Ross, I guess...
BOOZE: White Horse Scotch
Bottoms up!
At the moment...Harpoon UFO. Gotta love it

I like a lot of hops myself. If I have the dough I generally go for a good stout, brown ale, or barley wine. I just had a Goose Island IPA which was alright, but I like their Oatmeal Stout a lot more. Left Hand makes a wicked good Milk Stout, and Sammy Smith's Oatmeal Stout is heaven. As far as barley wines go I really like Old Guardian, which is Stone's. There's another one I tried recently that I liked a lot too, but I can't recall the name. For brown ale Brooklyn Brewery is pretty good, but there are a lot more. I just learned that Brooklyn Brewery is 100% solar powered too. I think that is really cool.
If I'm short on cash or I want quantity over quality I'll usually go for Pabst, Milwaukee's Best Ice, or some gin and tonic with lime.

sierra nevada's ipa is better than goose island's. IMO. a local bar has Centennial IPA on tap, which is really good. also 750 mL bottles of Affligem that are ~8%. the $/alc ratio is about the same as PBR.
i used to drink pbr, but then i figured out i can get the same pint with twice as much alcohol for twice the price and get twice the taste. SCORE!!

Point special
shots of Lesvos ouzo
Beer: Mickeys, Rolling Rock, Blue Moon
Wine: hate it...but love cheap Ballentines champagne
Liqour: Jaegermeister, JD whisky

brooklyn is not bad :) but they support a proposal to build a stadium in the middle of brooklyn which is not cool with lots of people who leave here. :(

in the fridge:
la fin du monde
maudite
Ommegang Hennepin belgian ale (this is in my fridge 100% of the time, partly because it's so damn good, and partly because it's at C-Town across the street)

I'm sorry, but that is a REALLY disturbing picture. Look like a bunch of "funboys" who shoud "get a room." (beeeeep, cybertron)
I drink a lot of PBR and MGD. When I go to bars I drink Guiness.
When I drink wine I buy the second cheapest bottle, or I rock the Rossi-posse.
Liquor is nasty most times, but I have been known to enjoy some very high-end russian vodka.

Sparks and jug wine. Usually Livingston or Almaden. I try to go for the "flavors" that sound the least like wine, e.g. Livingston Red Rose.

Beer: IPAs, Stouts, Wheat Beers, Brown Ales, just about anything with some *taste* to it.
Wine: really don't drink much wine 'cause I'm not a heavy drinker, and I live alone, so I'll rarely finish a whole bottle before it goes bad, as most wines generally don't keep for much longer than a day or two after opening and who wants the same wine for 3-days in a row?
Liquor: I'm a whisky/scotch fan. My brother and sister recently surprised me with a birthday present of a 30 Year Laphroaig. Wow. :) I like other hard liquors as well but I'm not as familiar with many of them. My standbys when ordering liquor are usually Bourban Manhattan, Maker's Mark on the rocks, Gin & Tonic, or Scotch. I was on a white russian kick for a while, but that's not really "hard liquor", more like candy in a glass ;).
I recently acquired a bottle of the most interesting liquor I've ever tasted. I went on vacation to Austria recently and in Innsbruck there was this little liquor shop, and the proprietor was super cool. He was telling us all about the local wines he carried and the varieties of Brandy and Schnapps, many of which he made himself, that he had on hand, and even gave us tastes of a few different ones. One of the ones that he made, and that we sampled, was a Schnapps that was made with pine. It's amazing stuff. You'd expect the pine taste to be overpowering, and it is quite strong, but it's also quite pleasant. It comes on kind of strong, as you would expect, but then sorta evaporates away into a smooth, almost vanilla finish. I was impressed enough that I decided to buy a bottle.
I also got a small bottle of absinthe at another store just 'cause you can't get it in the states, but really wasn't all that impressed with it. Tastes like crap AFAIC.

Heh. I was wondering if this might come up. You never partyed at 16? And I have quite a few friends who I've known for a while who might be considered "scene" these days. So, judge away.

awesome! i'm from utica, originally, and grew up around the corner from matt's brewery. have you ever tried utica club? the WORST beer i've ever had the displeasure of drinking. my grandfather used to be so into that stuff, he kept a keg in his bar in his basement. after i graduated from boot camp, he invited me to have a beer with him and i choked on it...failed that rite of passage, i suppose.
does anyone have the scoop on when the brooklyn brewery moved their facilities up there? i'm loving their black chocolate stout, and noticed that it's being brewed in utica.

Two weird things that are my favorite things in the whole world-
Jameson on the rocks, but the rocks are coffee ice cubes-best drink ever.
A shot of Jaegermeister in a glass of Red Bull, Boilermaker-style.
Both of these drinks are simultaneously stimulants and depressants, so you may find yourself doing BMX tricks on your Pistas, and hurting yourselves. Beware.
Drinking some leftover Labbatt Light. $7 case in bottles last week.
What I would rather be drinking:
Founders Pale Ale/IPA
Arcadia IPA
Shiner Heffeweizen
Shiner Bock
40 of Milwaukee Ice

Ah, a subject close to my heart! In no particular order:
Home:
Chimay
Fat Tire
Pacifico (one right next to the keyboard as I'm typing this)
Tecate (preferably in bottles)
Bear Republic Racer X
Morretti
Peroni
and the occasional bottle of 100% agave: Herradura Silver, Patron Silver,
Corralejo Siver or Herradura Repesado or Aņejo. Always served neat or
the occasional margarita made with real fruit and limes in summer.
Wine:
Lots of red & white Californian, Italian, French (I have like three wine clients)
with the occasional Spanish red.... Zin, Pinot Noir, Cab Franc (Meritages!) Sauv Blanc,
Malbec, Syrahs... mmm, wine!
Bars:
Herradura or Patron Siver = neat. always. + mex beer back.
Guiness + Jameson
the occasional Saphire Martini
Hangovers:
Bloody Maria = as the name implies, no vodka - real tequilla w/ tomato juice etc. Cilantro garnish.
Damn I'm thirsty now!
