Every time I visit and read posts I get all miserable and depressed.

I amstuck at work for at least another 5 months before I can get time off
to do some touring.

I fear my urge and desire to tour and live the freedom of the roads will take over and I'll
overreact and quit my job in a spur of the moment panic.

How do you guys get through the misery of a long winter? I live in Scandinavia and we have great summers with endless light, so have no desire to move as such, but boy the winters suck when you have a passion for cycling.

Well, another 4-6 weeks and the training starts.....

Well, I have a passion for cycling but by the time October rolls around I'm looking forward to some snow for my second passion - snowshoeing and combine that with Geocaching (www.geocaching.com)

Then by the time April rollls around I'm, sick of the cold and snow and can't wait to get on my bike.

I like the change of seasons, embrace winter, do something differant.

I've found that cross country skiing makes the winters go much faster.

That sounds pretty rough man. I guess it is either feast of faminne all the time. Sometimes I can't help but feel snowbound here in Vermont. especially this winter when there aint a spek of snow. Oh well, do you have any mtn biking trails. Night riding is gaining popularity with the increases in technology. Ive never done it but it migt be worth a shot. I'm sure it will improve your hand eye coordination. BIking with owls and skunks. Cool Peace TY

I find commuting helps a lot. Nokian studded tires are some of the best 30 euro I have spent.

I feel you on your winter blues. I think the long winters help make you realize how much you enjoy the summer, so that by the time it actually rolls around you appreciate it that much more.
Summer is like a lover. When this said lover is around all day every day then you kinda get a little tired of them, and you kind of wish maybe you a different lover, one that swung to a different groove. So you dump your lover, and find yourself a new one, only to realize how much you loved your old one, and that they were perfect. So you go back to the old lover and that passion is renewed and better then before. Repeat cycle.
summer will come my friend, just you wait and see. And look on the bright side, global warming is a friend you can welcome with open arms. Hurrah for global warming...

Sounds like the old berserker syndrom setting in ;) . Or SAD (Seasonal Affected Disorder) as the doctors know it. We evolved for a certain amount of light and when we do not get it some of us start getting stressed or worse. Treatment: A couple of hours a day in a room with bright lights like two or 3 times brighter than usual. Look it up for the best method.

Or try New Zealand or Australia. Argentina and South Africa are getting a little too wierd about now.
