Just figured I would pop in and say hey. I haven't been on a bike since high school but looking to get back into riding. Currently on a search for my new bike especially now that I could easily commute if I can get motivated lol.

Actually born and raised in Tampa, though I did spend a year in Bryn Athyn, PA about an hour oustside of Philly. Not only my friends talking about getting into riding again, but the fact I drive by Oliver's in Tampa Palms and the Schwin shop on 56th everyday is kind of helping to push the desire.

I am leaning away from a road bike and more towards a hybrid mainly for a lower starting point for cost. Also I have never ridden a road bike and I was always comfortable on the mountain bikes so might as well start closer to something I know.

Wow, you’re one of the rare natives. I lived in St. Pete most of my preadult life and Tampa the rest of the time. I also spent 1 year up north in Buffalo. Too cold came home! Sounds like you might be in the New Tampa area. I use to ride out there on Bruce B. Downs before the development got out of hand. You might want to check out Dud Thames in S. Tampa. They are under new management and have really beefed up their selection. However, I bought both my bikes at Trek Bicycle Store of Lakeland. They had some great deals on last year’s models. I started on a Trek hybrid and moved up to a Lemond road bike after a year.
