I was interested in purchasing a cinelli framest, either a unica or proxima. Anyboyd have comments on cinelli frames ingenerals, and how they ride? how is cinellinmg about warranties? Although their a little pricey, i think they seem like a good frame over all. The framesets also come with columbus carbon forks and stems, headsets and handle bars. Also, I am very unfamiliar with columbus. Are they an aluminum company such as reynolds is for steel? how is their reputation in their frame?
thanks
I had a mountain bike W/XT gruppo on a Cinelli frame set, I believe it was Columbus MAX steel tubing. Loved the ride... I wished I had never sold it! As far as I know, they are an extremely reputable frame builder. My 2¢.

I just sent a Cinelli frame back for a warranty replacement. While climbing the frame stress-cracked on the down tube, beginning at the attachment point for the water bottle cage. Up until that point I was in love with the frame. It climbed very well, especially out of the seat. Descended well also. The guys I ride with suggest that I am an animal, but I believe that there was a flaw in there somewhere. The replacement will be an interesting exercise in confidence building.
Cinelli is a very well regarded old Italian frame builder. Excellent reputation. Their frames cost a little more than Id be willing to pay right now but I think they are very nice.
Columbus is an old Italian company that makes tubing for bicycles...they are basically the italian version of Reynolds. I prefer Columbus tubing over Reynolds, but its just personal preference. A couple other Italian tube makers are Oria and Dedacciacci (sp?)....also excellent.

Great frames but becareful as some older models are on closeout and depending on where you buy they may carry no warranty.
Same with newer models. Buy from authorized dealers. Many mail-order shops out there sell them 'under the table' thus they may carry no warranty.
