Anyone else? This band is just extraordinary. They started as a Brit punk band in the ~late 70's, and have been on an amazing journey through multiple musical styles and genres since then, including a big dose of American alt-country. Jon Langford is the driving force, along with Sally Timms, Rico Bell and a few others whose names I can't recall at the moment. They put on a great live show and their side project recordings, including The Three Johns, The Waco Brothers and their contributions to other recordings on Chicago's Bloodshot Records are all superbe. Rock and Roll is one of my favorite Mekons albums.

Me too, and the Fanglord's last thing with Richard Buckner was ace.

There's a decent little memoire written by one of the guys from the Mekons in an issue of McSweeney's I have.

I like 'em sometimes, but they're just too inconsistent for my tastes.

Sort of like the fall, I never know quite what I'm getting.

Good stuff, and I second Jim-Bob's comparison with The Fall. But, The Fall is definitely higher-up on my playlists than The Mekons.
