As many of you know there are tons of track frames and components on ebay, and often track bikes pop up on craiglist.

In accordance with the rules of this site, do not use this thread as advertising space for yourself or anyone else. Just post if you find something track-related that others would be interested in.

Post on. All of those track bikes should be going to people who ride on the track anyway. What do people riding on the street need Suntour Superbe hubs and cranks for?

Oh right, for winning pissing contests.

I agree, generally.

What really gets me, is all the parting out and flipping of bikes; in most cases, by those frequenting this forum. And ironically, they're the ones *****ing about the rising cost of track bikes/parts. Well, don't flip then: buy what you need/use, rather than buying to make trivial profits.

Problem being:
1) too many in it to make money (****ting where they eat)
2) too many want to sit in front of their PC and write about riding
3) not enough actually riding

and to more directly address your comment:

I got a real kick, a while back, when one of the female members (who probably rides all of 10 miles a week) was going on and on about how the NJS promax hubs she'd just installed on her very fashionable Keirin frame didn't spin as smooth as her previous hubset. A very noticeable difference. Go figure.

Schwinn Paramount (complete bike) found on eBay - miscategorized, errors in description and lowball Buy-It-Now of just $150. Looks to be in very good shape - LOOK AT THE PICTURES.

It's a good bike for a fixie conversion, right? Or just to use as a road bike. Look for item 7219293422

What I love is that NJS, something that Japanese racers tend to dislike due to it's limiting of performance enhancing advances in technology, is coveted by silly American fashionistas. It's like, all of those years they spent coveting our guitars, and bomber jackets, and movies are all coming back to us in some sort of ironic cosmic cycle. The Japanese were known for paying insane prices for American kitsch, and now we're doing the same for their bicycle parts. Go figure.

I'm all for a craigslist/ebay thread and I will stick this one.
However, as with all of the other cl/ebay threads no selling or
pimping your own auctions, sales etc.
Discussion is ok but lets keep in on topic.

Anybody think this coud be a scam?

I understand your scepicism, but it's genuine.
The seller runs a UK track cycling website and shop and has close ties with Magnus and his wife, Megan. Megan is British (Welsh actually) and Magnus now lives and trains in Wales, hence the UK conection.
The seller was the promoter of Magnus' recent (unsuccessful) attempt at the hour record behind a derny. You could bid on the frame with confidence. Magnus now rides a custom built Bianchi (bianchi are his bike suppliers from his European road team) so that, I assume, is the reason he no longer needs this frame.
His new Bianchi can be seen on the seller's website here:
http://www.trackcycling.net/site/tech/tech.php?id=4

Magnus has been riding a fair bit of track at the new velodrome in Newport, South Wales, over the winter. He's been a regular competitor at their track league aswell as riding some of the higher profile UK track meetings. He also rode the World Cup in Manchester and the 6-day at Rotterdam. It's great to see someone who can win the Paris-Roubaix race mixing it with regular track riders. He's a genuinely nice guy.

It's a bit late now (as the frame has just sold) but here's a picture of Magnus on the frame that was on ebay: http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/news/2004/10_october/14_Backstedt.shtml
