Well, since they run $280 complete, $190 seems a little high.
But, from a objective frame quality standpoint, it's a pretty decent deal.
As I've said in the past, the frame is essentially the same as my Pake, and they retail for $290.

you could have had a whole bike for $100 more.

congrats on the frame, i'll admit i was going to try and snag it if it stayed low enough ;) but for another $50 i want an IRO. hope you enjoy it
yeah, thought about getting a IRO,
but it was 50 more, and i really dont have the money.
Is IRO MUCH better than the Mercier?
i have no idea, but hey i've already bought the frame, i'll just have to enjoy it!

wait, but i thought somebody said the Mercier frames= spicer frames, which cost $275?
Conclusion, i like the frame.
i'll keep you guys posted when i get it in a few days.
the seller is going to send it first thing tomorrow morning :D

I think from a tubing standpoint, the Mercier and Mark V are the same.
IRO obviously has much better customer service since, I assume, the Mercier has none.
But yeah, don't worry about the other options you didnt take.
Just build it up and have fun.

you should have bought the complete bike and sold all components. you would have come out with like 145 for the frame i bet....

Yeah, it's $280.
Jamtastic is saying if you bought it whole for $280, you could have probably sold all the parts for about $140 or so.
But, yeah, don't worry about it.
Honestly, if you judge the mercier kilo frame on build quality alone, it's better than decent. Nice paint finish, relatively clean welds, and a crown fork that isn't half bad. Good stuff, you'll enjoy it. :)

sweet, and yeah. i'm loving the fork..i dont really like uni-crowns that's one of the reason why i got this.
and i noticed the clean welds too!!
sweet guys, thanks so much for reassuring this buy
complete is 347 shipped, i havent seen any for 280

Ended Last Week (http://cgi.ebay.com/Mercier-Kilo-TT-Fixed-Gear-Track-Bike-New_W0QQitemZ7218425686QQcategoryZ98084QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
$312 with shipping.
and it was sold/considered cheap?
i'm starting to doubt if $280 for a complete is possible?
dang!
i know the seller 'sprtymama's gonna have some in at the end of the week, but those are the 347shipped ones

Actually, new from sprtymama is $307 + $40 shipping. With paypal coupon, I got it shipped to my door for $322. I agree with others, you should have bought the whole bike and sold the parts you didn't want.
how many times do i have to repeat the fact that i'm broke? and i do NOT have more than 250 to spend.
plus there's no time for saving up. i need the bike NOW

Ha, yeah, I saw that one on Ebay too. If I had more room, i would have bid on it, but I wouldn't have paid much more than you did. Prudent choice. Considering you can get it rolling on solid parts for around $200 more, I say it's a good deal.

I'm riding one. It's a good frame. My only complaint is the absolutely obnoxious overuse of decals.

I love mine. Its currently only used on the track. =)
I hope that some day, when I upgrade to a higher quality bike, that this one will be my daily commuter ! =)
Its relatively light and has a good combination of track/road geometry so its suitable for both... + at the price point that they sell them for, you can't get a better deal on something NIB.
I've had mine for a few months now... this frame is relatively stiff on sprints, wouldn't you say? I was expecting a soggy, spongy mess. I'm pretty surprised with it.

Hey Mercier owners, how heavy is the bike? I am intrigued, it might be a nice first fixie-frame for me; I am currently riding a conversion. Thanks.
Hmmmm, seems you got SHAFTED, Big Time! ;)
Well i am may be kidding, or not... I did not follow the other threads that's why i probably don't get following:
You needed the frame now so you could ride quickly.
But there is no components..
Do you have components of near equal quality and in the same shape?
If not isn't it going to mean that you can't ride "NOW!" anyway? And that in total you will have to spend quite some more loot than if you had bought the complete...?
But even if i am way off and you do have the components, building it up proper will take some time to do it right and hence you won't be able to ride "NOW!" regardless.
But you didn't have the extra cash, but we are not talking that much cash. Could you not simply have borrowed the small sum and then gotten a better deal as well as being able to ride as soon as the machine arrived? And then possibly sell of the components that you already had and leaving the supplied components on the bike...?
So,... did you possibly shaft yourself? Or have i got it all backwards...? Sure it is done, but i just want to get this straight.
i got it for $190 + $25 shipping

Mine is lite as hells but Im used to old 70's iron and a Surly.
Id say its 18lbs ready to ride, at the most. :Caveat: The frame seems
to be drawn @ .004 or something because it is very thin.
Mine got a ding in shipping from where they strapped the handle
bar to the frame from the factory. I love mine built it up with
stuff from DansComp and Spicer. It was a good bike to learn about
this stuff on as opposed to getting a pre-built and never learning.
Mines a 50c and the toe-strike is making me already look for a new frame
which is a shame because for the money the Mericer is really clean
and nicely sprayed.

the frame by itself isn't really all that heavy.
but the components they use are definetly not picked for weight savings. the seatpost itself weighs about a pound.

i really like those mercier frames. far more attractive fork than the IRO, and decent trackends for such a cheap frame

Baxtefer is spot on about the stock components - heavy as can be. If you swap out the wheelset you'll feel much lighter. Ditto for the saddle and those pedals, which I replaced with eggs. I haven't done my seatpost but it's a monster slab that would nix even more weight, if you wanted. Mine feels to be somewhere between 19 and 21lbs, probably closer to 19.

Hrm, interesting. I have most of the components already on my conversion, I could easily swap them over. Is sprtymama on eBay the only place to get one of these bikes? Cuz she only sells the complete bike, I'd only need the frame. Thanks.

pretty much.
you could get just the frame from spicer for $275, but what's the point.
might as well getthe complete bike and sell the parts you don't need to some suckers.

I believe the KHS is the same frame and you can get just the frame and fork on ebay for $219.
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-KHS-Flite-100-Track-Bike-Frame-and-fork-53cm-Steel_W0QQitemZ7221508009QQcategoryZ98084QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
and baxtefer is right, just get the complete and sell the parts.
