Wow. That's a nice bike you've got there.

I like the brown color scheme you've got going there. You don't see too many brown bikes on the road these days (or at least I don't). Great looking fenders! I imagine that if you ever do get mud caked up in there it won't be a problem.

Dam, you have got to give us some information on that bike. It is not nice to bring a pretty girl to the dance and not introduce her to your buddies!

Well, I was just hoping someone would ask! I made the frame myself. I have a frame building shop in my basement. I had it powdercoated a candy red metal flake over black, so it is a super dark red. Since I didn’t paint it, the bike wouldn’t end up with my name plastered on the downtube, so I decided to invent a headbadge. The N is cut out of 1/8” brass, and brazed on the headtube. I bought the fenders & racks before I started so all of the braze-ons were made & located to fit. The fenders were made by a guy named Cody in Bend, Oregon. He has dozens of patterns, and does custom. To top it off his are far cheaper than other wooden fenders. I used 26” wheels.

I’m afraid to add up the $$$ !!! The good part is the frame was almost free. I made it from a Tange Prestige tube set that I already had. I had to buy beefier seat stays for it. I used the wheels off of my mountain bike that I don’t ride anymore. Everything else is new.

The frame didn’t feel heavy. I’m not sure about the total weight. What is the weight range for a touring bike?

If we're talking a heavy tourer it's usually around 34 lbs.and that would be in steel. The Dutch-made Kyoga's come in heavier than that.
Nice job...my friend who couldn't afford a Touring Tandem (he's an old-age pensioner) built a stunner out of two solo frames and rubbed it down and hand-painted it himself. He was so pleased he went on to build a racing tandem..again a beauty.
He's the sort of guy that can do these things and makes me feel inadequate.
