Hi all,
Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, but I wanted to show you my new touring bike.

Sweet. What's the story with those fenders? (or mudguards, if you prefer) Also, any details on the frame and the componentry? Enjoy your ride!

Wow. That's a nice bike you've got there.
I like the brown color scheme you've got going there. You don't see too many brown bikes on the road these days (or at least I don't). Great looking fenders! I imagine that if you ever do get mud caked up in there it won't be a problem.
Did you build this bike up yourself?
More info, please!

Can't go wrong with a Brooks saddle.

Dam, you have got to give us some information on that bike. It is not nice to bring a pretty girl to the dance and not introduce her to your buddies!

What kind of $$$ have you put into it?
Looks a tad on the heavy side ?
Well, I was just hoping someone would ask! I made the frame myself. I have a frame building shop in my basement. I had it powdercoated a candy red metal flake over black, so it is a super dark red. Since I didn’t paint it, the bike wouldn’t end up with my name plastered on the downtube, so I decided to invent a headbadge. The N is cut out of 1/8” brass, and brazed on the headtube. I bought the fenders & racks before I started so all of the braze-ons were made & located to fit. The fenders were made by a guy named Cody in Bend, Oregon. He has dozens of patterns, and does custom. To top it off his are far cheaper than other wooden fenders. I used 26” wheels.
Sugino XD crankset 26, 36, 46
XTR 12-34 cassette
Shimano LX Rapid Rise rear derailleur
Dura Ace triple front derailleur
Schwalbe Marathon tires 26x1.5
Brooks Flyer saddle
Dura Ace post
Nitto Technomic Deluxe stem
Nitto Noodle bar
cork tape, tied with hemp & shellaced
Mavic headset
Rivendell’s Silver bar-end friction shifters
XTR V-Brakes, the jury is still out on them!
Tubus Cargo rear rack
Nitto/Rivendell front rack, didn’t make the pictures
Giles Berthoud leather mudflaps
Thanks for letting me show it off,
Tom
I’m afraid to add up the $$$ !!! The good part is the frame was almost free. I made it from a Tange Prestige tube set that I already had. I had to buy beefier seat stays for it. I used the wheels off of my mountain bike that I don’t ride anymore. Everything else is new.
The frame didn’t feel heavy. I’m not sure about the total weight. What is the weight range for a touring bike?
Thanks,
Tom

Sweet sweet bike! Just lovely.
I just got a set of those same cranks, in 165mm length. Gonna put 'em on a Surly Pacer towner I'm building.
Well done, damn nice bike.

If we're talking a heavy tourer it's usually around 34 lbs.and that would be in steel. The Dutch-made Kyoga's come in heavier than that.
Nice job...my friend who couldn't afford a Touring Tandem (he's an old-age pensioner) built a stunner out of two solo frames and rubbed it down and hand-painted it himself. He was so pleased he went on to build a racing tandem..again a beauty.
He's the sort of guy that can do these things and makes me feel inadequate.
