cable and i was wondering if you guys had trouble with them slipping, like i had it tightened all the way but it was still slipping. Not fun when you need to stop and the lever just goes loose......can you tell me whats up?

where you tighten down the cable and the stradle cable...by the rear u brake, i think its called a cable hanger?? but yeah no matter how mutch i tighten it it slips, my friend said itll prolly do that for a while but i dont know

do you mean like...stretching becuase apparently all new brake cables "stretch" when you get them and have been riding them for like a week or two right after you get em...

thats what happens to me all the time, just re-tighten it and you should be good to go, and if you hate brakes even more than i do and dont want to mess with it then take it to a local bike shop...

Mine work almost too good...with VERY little stretch.

If I recall correctly the cables themselves do not stretch, the housing compresses.

My friend had this problem. What hapened was he greased up his cable a bit beofre he put it on, but he forgot to whipe it off from the spot on his cable where his straddle thingy tightened on. SO it obviously sliped untill he took it off, and whiped the grease off that spot.

thats different, what im talking about is when your cable is assembeled correctly, and it stretches while your doing a trick that requires heaving breaking (say an abubaca fufanu) (since you just got it the houseing and the actually cable expands a little bit since its really just thin wire wraped around each other, it can expland and contract...i think)

Your brake pads also squish a bit, so that could be confused with "stretching" or "slipping".

The mechanic at a local shop explained to me that no matter how hard a cable is tugged on, whether you put on a static or sudden load it's not going to stretch do to it being a weave.

But the housing's which are made to compress abit will stay compressed, leaving your brakes weaker.
