Don't know if it's my size, but just wanted to know anyone's preliminary thoughts on price before I go out into the extreme cold:

Sounds like too much money to me, but it depends on the local market, which I understand is difficult in New York. The components are good, though, and if it's in "superb condition" ...

Hey M, I'd say size is not an insignificant detail! So happens, I'm looking for a l/w CroMo (57-58 cm) frame right now. I'll give you first dibs since you've been so helpful to me. Let me know if you take a pass on it, and it happens to be the size I'm looking for, as I might then check it out for myself.

Don't know about being "very collectible", but I guess even Elvis bobbleheads may be considered very collectible by some. Under 20 lbs. -- without the wheels maybe. Remember it is a steel frame with older but respectable components. "26-inch... Araya rims" -- more likely 27-inch or 700C. "Superb condition" ought to be equivalent to pristine or NOS for that price. That said, it is a nice mid-80's road bike.
The bicycle is slightly older than advertised. The last, and maybe only year for the Comp TA was 1984. Weight is also a bit optimistic as these were advertised as 22.7 lbs and the marketing guys usually cherry picked the data from the smallest size frame. As for the price, it was only $465 US, brand new!
