The rims on my daughters bicycle need replaceing, and I was thinking of switching them with a smoother tire since the vast majority of her rideing is on pavement. The tires on the bike now are 26x 1.95" and the only labeling on the rims are decals which read SUN Z-19. Can I install a narrower tire on this rim? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can't find the specs on your rims, but I assume that their width falls somewhere within the standard range of 21-24 mm for 26" MTB rims.

You will have no problem installing narrower tires. Commonly available 26 x 1.50" city/hybrid tires will offer your daughter a vast improvement in terms of handling and lower rolling resistance.
