I had a deal with my wife, I take her to see Richard Jeni in Irvine and in return I get to race the IV Crit on March 4th but it turns out we have concert tickets for the 3rd here in Phoenix :( so that fell apart.
Well all is not lost, she also wants to see Bill Maher and he's got appearances scheduled in So-Cal for March 11th, April 29th, and May 13th. Anybody now of a good RR or Crit in So-Cal (preferably San Diego area) on one of those weekends? I see there are a few around those dates, but don't know which ones are any good and I can't do the stage races.
Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks, I did prior to posting this. It doesn't tell me which races are the better ones and which ones some of you will be participating in though. ;)
Half the fun is talking smack and ribbing fellow competitors ;) no fun to go to an unfamiliar area, show up as a nobody, steal their prizes/money, and leave everyone wondering who that was  ;) :D

Well,
3/11 Santiago TT - never done it so have no clue.
3/11 Murrieta Crit - new course this year, probably big turn out and good race. Near San Diego.
4/29 Devil's Punchbowl - Now this is the race to do. I've never actually done the race but I have ridden the area a couple times and will most likely be doing the race this year. It's a grueling RR course with some tough climbs and fast descents. If you're not in good shape and a great climber then you will get dropped. On second thought you should probably skip this one. You people from AZ can't climb so it would just be a humiliating experience for you. :D Since it's about a 3 hour drive from San Diego you can use that as your excuse for not showing.
5/14 Ontario Crit - I'll be racing the course for the first time this weekend but I hear it's a good race.

Apparently you didn't read my VOS report :o :D

That sounds interesting....I like Crits :D Anybody doing that one?

That's what I'm talking about...smack talk! Do I have to remind you who had considered doing the VOS stage race and *cough* elected to just do a crit that weekend?

I don't know about the Cat 5's in AZ, but you're not going to be leaving with anyone's prize money around here, because there isn't any ;) . You might be lucky enough to win a shirt, or some Clif Bars, or a cheap tire or something. In the Cat 4's, our total cash purse is $250 on average, split among the top 6 or so. Even so, I can't wait for the day that I come home from a race and say to my wife "woohoo babe, look, I won $50!!)" :D

Nope, no cash here for the 5s, but there was for the 30+ 4/5's....I made money that day :D ...a whole $10 profit :o unless you factor in everything else ;)
Steve,
The Murietta race will offer a race on Saturday and Sunday. Murietta is about an hour north of San Diego. The courses haven't been used for a while but they have been used in the past. Devil's Punchbowl is a good race but the race is in BFE. It is quite a drive from San Diego.

Ontario 7 corner course is fast and fun...almost not a crit, but a crit.

Uhh, too far to drive?
