Has anyone tried electrical stimulation with the Compex device? http://www.e-caps.com/za/ECP?PAGE=PRODUCT&CAT=TRAIN&PROD.ID=4980#info1

I have never used any of these things, but I thought the general consensus was that they didn't work, at least not as advertised. Plus they seem a little scary to me, but whatever.

seems better to put that money towards massage and chiropractor .... they have the know how and tools to stimulate your muscles after an old fashioned workout.

i don't buy the compex idea because how does it know what you need? i gather the "high profile" athletes who use and endorse this have professional trainers and doctors on retainer to help w. training and recovery.

these things are bunk.

at most, they are ok to use after a workout to help get
lactic acid out of the muscles, but even that is bunk-ology

I like them. Anything that helps aid in recovery is good in my book.

My wife was prescribed a stimulator for treatment of "frozen shoulder". It seemed to help her with what was pretty serious pain. I do not know if it aided recovery as breast cancer got her first.

Most of the legal stimulators are used for rehabilitation purposes. I believe there is one brand of stimulator that is certified by the FDA for toning muscles. There are many brands that make claims but are not certified as safe and effective. I believe that the units used for rehabilitation are used basically to retrain muscles to contract properly - not to build strength or endurance.

I don't know how effective these units (certified or not) are at building muscle, but I suspect they are a poor substitute for real exercise.

There's some usage by sprinters (running). You can read about using electro-stim here:
