Mountain Biking - looking for a mtb shoe w/wide sizes, anyone know of one?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm about to go to clipless pedals, but can't find a shoe to fit me. I'm about a 9 1/2 or a 10, and rather wide. The shoes I found in the store I'd have to go to an 11 1/2 or maybe more to find something wide enough, and I would rather not do that. The guys working in the store were of little help.
Does anyone have a wide one they recommend, and here can I find them? I can't even find one on the nashbar or Performance.

I don't know the name but Nike has one. I was just reading about it earlier in a magazine.
Wow - I've always found Nike's to be very narrow for me.
I'm running the Specialized MTB Comp now. It's a really good show with a very wide toe box. Plenty of room in there for my boat feet!

I think Lake makes them in wide widths.

I found one place to buy Lake on-line. Here: http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=8353&category=1906
I did find some (sidi) at a shop here, yellow jersey, but the price tag of $189 turned me off. I think I'll order the ones above and hope they fit.

The one I reffered to earlier is called the Nike 101. It was in an issue of Mountain Bike magazine. I found it the other day after I wrote my original response.

Me too. I bought a pair of Nike Cairns a few years ago, when i first put them on i thought i would never wear them again, but after a few rides, they began to fit me pretty well, and now they fit me like a glove, so comfortable.
BUt if you have wide feet, stay away from Nikes.
SIDI (http://www.sidiusa.com/) make a few models in wide widths. They have a sizing chart on the webpage. Most LBSs carry them. Pretty much the best shoes you can buy also, which is nice. Durable and Comfortable (and pricey, too!)
