I'm a beginner rider. I really like both of these bikes. I'm not sure which one would be better for me. I have riden both and like them both. The 8000 is a hard tail and the Fuel is full suspension. I'm from Michigan, we have some really good trails here. Does anyone have any suggestions on these bikes. Does anyone have one of these? Please let me know what you think.

I'm not an expert by any means but I personally like the full suspension. (Or maybe I'm just old and soft!) Are the trails you'll be riding relatively smooth or lots of rocks, logs, roots etc? Around here they're pretty rough. I've never ridden a front suspension only bike on them but I've heard guys who have say it's pretty rough on them. Just my 2 cents. Good luck which ever way you go. :)

Hi Trekn,

I'm currently riding a Trek 8500 (1991 issue) which I love to bits....I've seen the Fuel 90, and it does look sweet!! I'd agree with DirtGrinder as in to say choose the bike which most suits your riding style...

Isn't Michigan quite sandy???

Out of the two, I'd go for the 8000....just my 2 pennies worth....

Have fun riding them both!!!
