Disc wheels w/disc brakes ... are they out there???

I have a Cannondale Bay Boy Ultra and I think this bike would look so tricked out with the four spoke wheels ... but I need disc brakes ... anyone ever see this combo???

Just saw these at pricepoint they are beautiful but they say recomended for rim brakes only.. :( Most likely the spokes just can't handle the extra force that disk brakes put on them.

You see-the whole point of CF wheels is that they are super-light. Adding the extra poundage of a dics brake system (not to mention the needed beefing-up of the stays and fork) would make this setup pointless. CF wheels are for:

1) Racers, willing to accept the shortcomings of the material in order to save some weight

2) Guys that just have to get the lightest components, no matter the cost, and

3) Poseurs that just want the look, even though it makes absolutely no sense whatever.

Putting CF racing wheels on a hybrid makes absolutely no sense at all.

I have to agree and I have the xtra lites, they're heavier than my run of the mil Mavic sups. But...they are supposed to be 30% more aero efficient. If I have alot of climbing to do, I use my Mavics.

Well, putting wheels that are aerodynamicaaly efficent on a hybrid likewise makes no sense whatsoever.......

Who you callin' "hybrid?"

This is a 2001 version ... an F4000 that allows me to swap out the wheels to allow me to mountain bike or road ride ... and get serious brakes in the deal while I'm trailering kids or have the "tag-along" on back. I can't keep two bikes and I'd really like to get into cyclocross and this bike will do all that.

When I'm on the road, I swap out the mountainbike handlebars and switch to drop bars ... but the road wheels on the mountain bike still look iffy .... but the Synergy wheels would look very fine.

It's what works for you,not someone else.

i feel for you, smfld, I think that spenergies on the bad boy would look tight as *****! If you got the money, go for it. Even if it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, it doesn't sound like your doing multiple climbing stages of the tour, and cosmetics are worth it! What's the point of buying a tight-looking bike and not be able to sport it?

i have a trek x/o that i use as a citybike with flat carbon bars and v brakes. i have absolutely no reason to have spinergy's with the yellow pbo spokes, but they look cool as hell, and looks do matter to some of us.

My Bianchi (in Celeste green of course), looks downright evil with the all black Xaero-X wheels on it. The bladed spokes give the wheels a different depth, and the Panaracer tires I use have black sidewalls too, adding to the blacked out look.
