I just bought a new wheel with a 3-speed SRAM Spectro T3 internally geared hub. I was planning on mounting it on my Cannondale 1FG (a singlespeed frame with an EBB and conventional vertical dropouts) to make it a commuter. When I put the wheel into the dropouts, I noticed that the hub axle ends exactly on the outer face of the dropouts. As a result, there is not enough hub axle to thread on the hub bolts. Do I just need to pinch the dropouts (which are aluminum, by the way) to get the bolts on? If yes, is this normal? Out of desperate experimentation, I did manage to pinch the dropouts to get the bolts threaded onto the hub axle, but I'm afraid I might be doing something bad to the frame. Any help would be appreciated!
