I am currently going through Zinn's maintenance book and read where stated that on a 9 spd. triple the Shimano shifters can not trim the line but could on doubles during riding. Well, the line will trim up and wondering if anyone has found this to be true.

I debated on going to a double but would have so much invested in my Pilot I would never get any money out of it if I decided to sell it. Plus, living in mountainous area I find the triple chain as needed.

Based on our experience the first generation triples did not have the half-stop trim for the granny ring that the later shifter do have. My wife's had three Shimano STI triples.
