I'm about to get my ACL replaced, so I was wondering if training/riding on a mountain bike would be more benficial or on a road bike?

any opinions on this one?

Thanks :)

when I had my knee reconstructed the physio had me on a recumbent exercise bike for a few weeks. I can't remember if I was riding back then (it was 12 years ago) but I would think the key is to listen to the advice of your doctor and physio and do what they say. You'll likely be in a brace for 6 weeks so won't be doing much then. I think it took me a good few months before I got confident again (and I had a really easy recovery).

Can't see too much difference between the bikes although I would be inclined to use platform pedals no matter what I rode - you don't want to be twisting your knee unecessarily - especially in an emergency.

good luck, hope it goes well. mine has been great ever since.

cheers

Road for sure, you don't need the high torque loads in mtn biking.
