A neighbor who drives out to the suburbs to work stopped me today and began asking serious questions about dumping her car and switching to bike. Her questions indicated that she had been doing some research not just making conversation questions. I directed her to other neighborhood resources, women who have been car free longer than I have etc. Maybe more people are getting a clue about what a fraud car ownership is.
Last week I spent some time at a friends place watching some of the olympics on the TV. It seems like the car companies are getting desperate, I don't recall there being so many car commercials on TV one right after the other. The commercials blended with each other as though each company is showing the same fantasy world trying to get people like my neighbor to believe again that if she just goes deeper into debt she will magically enter a pristine driving world. My neighbor's questions and eager listening to my answers make the car commercials seem so pathetic.
