I just read about this stuff several months ago. It's a berry from the Amazon Rainforest that is extremely high in antioxidants. Comes in smoothie form and in powder as well.
Heres a link:

i work in a health food/sports nutrition store. i have tried the acai in supplement form(capsules) and in an acai beverage. i did not notice much in the way of energy( it is promoted as an energy/antioxidant). the drinks have a lot of sugar-29 or so grams for 1 serving. i take a,c,e, and alpha-lipoic acid for antioxidant purposes. hope this helps.

I watched on Public Television a piece on Brazil and the traveller stopped by a store to drink Acai. It was so thick it had to be eaten with a spoon. It was at a local store and the Brazillian said it had everything you need in it. I suppose all the nutrients and vitamins and stuff.
Sambazon is a name brand and it has both the pure Acai and the original Acai. The pure is just Acai and the original has a sweetener. If you go to the search engines like Google and Yahoo, you will notice some Acai sites will attempt to trash the other vendors on this one point....sugar.
I have been taking the Sambazon Acai that comes frozen. I dump it in my smoothie with banana, yogurt, ground fresh flaxseed, and oranges with ice cubes. So that's my anti oxident drink. Later on I might stop by the health food store and get a fresh squeezed 2 oz of wheat grass.
I'll tell you in 6 months. How it all works. But its too early to tell, I think. One thing it does...it satisfies my hunger for a breakfast. That smoothie is over 20 ounces. And if you want a recovery drink, try the wheat grass.
