I need advice.
I have the following components, all new.
1 SH-SLBS77 Shimano Dura Ace Bar End 9 speed Shifters /Set/ DA cables and bosses
1 SH-CNHG73 Shimano LX, 105 Hyperglide Chain for 9 speed
1 SH-RDM510S Shimano Deore Long Cage Rear Derailleur, 9sp
I need to match them up with an 11-34 9spd Ti cassette on my road frame.
I was told by two mechanics that this will work. However, the Shifter specs in the box say that they will only work with DuraAce components. Shimano does not have them in their compatibility charts, and I can't find any Support email for them.
The chainring is 39/53 Shimano 105 crank. If it will accept smaller rings, I'd be happy to go down to 34/50 or whatever. However, I'd just as soon leave it as is.
Will this work? Will the DA shifters index with the 9spd cassette? Will they only work in the Friction mode? I don't want to simply use Friction, and need them to index, as it will be my hill-climbing bike.
Suggestions??
