Classic & Vintage - tire pump for frame pegs

My recently-acquired 1960 Capo has pump pegs brazed onto the downtube, as do most other early 1960s Capos I have seen. (This is also the standard pump peg spacing of old English 3-speeds.) It can be hard to find an OEM-style tubular pump in this length, and the ones which are available tend not to work particularly well. Fortunately, the size M Mount Zefal pump will compress to fit these pegs, so one solution is to ride with a Mount Zefal, but to show the bike with an old-fashioned aluminum or steel tube pump.

Your local bike shop should be able to order a pump that will fit the pegs. Zephal makes a large variety of pumps - road and ATB. I am sure that Silca might have something or possibly sks from Germany. You may have to do some searching but I think that a bike parts wholesaler that imports from Europe should have something avaiable.

Thanks for the tip. I need something which works well, which rules out traditional aluminum or steel tube pumps which use hoses instead of integrated heads.

Silca imperio with steel campy head? in chrome finish? matches almost anything
and no hoses. Of course one has to be careful using it as to not launch the
handle, but that's half the fun.

Oh boy, you just brought back some lovely memories of Silca NASA pump launches. AT one time I thought that they were the greastest thing since sliced bread. Then, when I had a flat in the middle of nowhere and had to actually depend and use this thing in order to attempt to pump 100 pounds of pressure into my rear wheel tubular, reality struck. Of course I was on the side of a busy secondary road, in the middle of nowhere, nary a pay phone in sight, before mankind became dependent on cell phone in order to live a decent life, and , of course , at the farthese point from home. It actually did work but was qucikly replaced by the reality of a true dependable Zephap silver aluminum frame pump which actually worked and pumped and did not flex like it was going to snap at any second. The aesthetic beauty of this masterful Italian pump was quickly replaced by the reality of a pump that I could depend upon when I got another flat. The launches were actually quite lovely to watch when they occured-especially when one could witness a pump other than the color silver slowly arcing over the stopped group of cyclists.
