Hey all, I am still searching for that three wheel trike. Thanks to some fellow forum readers i got a web site on the American Cruiser, made in California, i believe its a tadpole configuration but not a ground scraper model. The seat is like 17 inches off the ground. What i would like to know if there is anyone who has one and how they like it. I was looking at the sun trikes but found these instead. I am not into speed but i dont want to be a snail either. This bike can cruise from 12 to 15 miles an hour for sightseeing and some long tours. let me know what you think and if you have one give me a rundown please. If you happen to live in Michigan, Lower Penninsula I would love to come check it out since the bikes are purchased direct from the manufacturer. thanks again PEABOB. ;) :D

If you're referring to the American TriCruiser, then it's been around for several years and it pops up from time to time on forums because of its price. For some reason it's never become popular; and it should have at that price unless there's a problem with it that I don't see. Handling, durability, looks? The kingpins look a little flimsy, but otherwise it seems to be the perfect gateway machine. Looks interesting, but be careful.

BlazingPedals,

Yeah, those American Tricruisers look like they're too high of the ground. Would you want to go downhill at 40+ mph trying to manage curves on that thing?

The kingpin assembly is the part that steers the front wheels, the 'knuckle' that the front axle bolts into. Kingpins are often cast assemblies due to the high stress they must endure. It looks like the TriCruiser just uses 1/4" aluminum, which unless it's heat treated would simply bend a few times and break. Maybe I'm wrong - after all, all I have to go by is the picture - that they are aluminum. Maybe they're steel and will be OK. An email or call to them would seem to be a logical next step if you are interested.

Funbun, not into speed and racing but want to sightsee and with my bad knees getting the butt into the bucket of a ground scaper would need the services of one mighy big crane. So speed is not my forte but durability and fun are. thanks for the feedback. Peabob

Why not try an EZ3 or their newer tadpole trike?
