what is your opinion on which fork is better ...manitou axle elite vs. rock shox psylo sl
i have the manitou now but saw the psylo for sale at a really good price, so is it better than the axle that i have now?

The Axel is a terrible fork compared to the rock shox. The axel is an elastomer pogo stick while the psylo is actually pretty decent with dampening and other genuine suspension features.

Psylo is the clear winner!

the axel came stock on my bike, and was quickly replaced. do not, i repeat, do not purchase the manitou axel elite. personally, i despise anything made by manitou

Eh, manitou isn't all that bad depending on which you use. But the axel is definitely not a performer =P Psylo is better, no doubt.

Comparing the Psylo to an Axel is like comparing apples to oranges.

Get the Psylo.

the phrase "comparing apples to oranges" implies that either one is as good or bad as the other, that its a personal choice, that its all just, well, fruit. so are you saying that the axel and the psylo are like apples and oranges or are you saying you think the psylo is better?

just confused, sorry.

it is pretty clear that everyone prefers the psylo over the axle. Does it really matter that the axle is a fluid fork and the psylo is a Single Coil spring.

thanks man. was just wondering.

i have an axel elite on my bike. i have ridden the bike of this fellow i know, he has a wheeler with a marz something or the other on it, 80 mm xc fork. it was only when i rode his bike i realised how ****ty my fork is. anyway, i usually ride my bike with the axel locked out and am yet to personally know the widely acclaimed boons of mountain bike front suspension. phff, its a bummer. somebody told me to get rid of the fork and buy a cheap lighter rigid one until i can afford a good fork, but man there is no way i am doing that. i am just out of a country where probably atleast 90 percent of the population is hopelessly unaware of bicycle gearing and suspension, so there is no way i am going to deprive myself of the cool feeling of owning a front suspension fork, no matter how much it sucks. :D

They both have single coil spring and they both have hydraulic (fluid) damping.

Get the Psylo. Same weight, much better damping, more travel (can your frame handle 5 inches of travel?), better torsional rigidity (30 mm stanchions against 28.6mm). My Psylo XC (simpler damping than SL) works much beter than my Axel comp (same fluid flow damping as in elite).
