BMX - chain ring combined guard

hey, do you guys like these? or are they lame? i have something similar on my MTB to prevent my pants from getting caught :D

that's the main reason i would get it. do your pants get caught too?

I personaly don't like the look of them, also I feel that they are not needed. If you just buy a good chain like the Shadow half link, or the new S&M half link that's sapose to be comming out soon, you won't need one.

They're almost totally pointless when you have micro gearing; it's damn near impossible to actually basha small if you're not intending to do so.

My pants don't really get caught on the ring. If its a singlespeed or single ring the chain kind of blocks your pants from getting caught in the chainring, even if they brush against it.

It happens a lot on my mountain bike though, have to either do something about it or they brush against and catch on the wheel like every 10 seconds

Just get a bandana and tie it around your sprocket-side pant leg. And wear boot-cut jeans instead of straight legs, so they don't bunch up as much.

my freind has that exact same chainwheel in 30t, he likes it, and the only complaint he has with it is that it doesnt fit his 22mm spindle on his new Primo hollowbites AND for some reason his Shadow chain has messed up the inside wall of the "gaurd" part, because it didnt fit too well when we installed it, so if you decide to get one (despite what beerman said about how you dont need a gaurd if your going to have sucha small sprocket) then dont plan on getting the Shadow chain or any other chain with half or bigger links...


oh and as far as keeping pants out of your chain, it does work for that, but then again, so does having a smaller sprocket...

i find that a smaller sproket makes my pants get caught a hell of a lot more beacause its where my pants bunch up...i'll just use a bandana or shoelace to tie them down..or wear tight pants.

Don't get a shadow chain. bandanas don't work too good for me. they are used as gang flags.if i wear a red bandana on my ankle, i would get shot. rubberbands work good

Have you heard about the new S&M chain? I heard it is sapose to be good.

its like $15, and it won't break. i destroyed the old shadow chain, and the new one.

I havent had any trouble with my chain as far as riding it, but getting it on with those weird links is hard, (I broke 2 chain breakers while pushing the pins into it), and as for the pants gettin caught, i use good ol' rubber bands...(tight pants work well,along with girls pants...)
