I bike at the collegiate leve and recently got hit by a car running through a stop sign. The frame is in pieces and I got a pretty large settlement from insurance. I am in the market for a new bike. I used to have a Litespeed Antares. I need a bike for general racing. I would just readjust it for climbing, sprinting and tt rides. Any suggestions for bikes in the 4k range? I was thinking about a Giant TCR since I had one years back and liked it. Thanks for the help.

I would suggest that you look to see what your peers are using in the event(s) that you will participate in. And ride everything that may suit your need. Disregard the brand name and fix your sights on suitability for the purpose. This time of year, you may even find a good used one and be able to save some serious dollars. Take your time, be patient, the perfect bike is out there. It has your name on it.

Brands do hold certain specifications though. Litespeed predominately creates titanium bikes. I think I like stiff frames too much to go with titanium so I was thinking a Giant since I used to ride one. I guess I will just go ask a few kids. Thanks.

Titanium bikes can be made as stiff as you require. It's not necessarily the material that determines stiffness, it's how the bike is made. Litespeed for instance, makes a whole range of bikes for a wide variety of uses. Ranging from the Arenburg to the Vortex.

How about custom? Serotta, Seven, Merlin or Spectrum for Ti. Or Strong, Serotta, Hunter for steel, to name a very few.

Are you riding in a College club? If so, what does your coach say? Is your club sponsored? If so, what do your sponsors say?

I didn't know it was the process, I thought that some materials like Steel and Titanium just absorb more than others. I haven't come to anyone in the club about this yet. I was browsing the internet and found this. Thought I should ask. Thanks though.
