Hello all,
I am new to the forum. I started to read it about 2-3 weeks ago and liked what I saw.
I've been riding bicycles since a friend sold me his old Schwinn Varsity for $20 in 1980 or so. I moved up to a Fuji with a steel fram in '82. I kept that bike till last spring when I found it a new home. I currently ride a Trek 1200 and put in about 2000 miles a year in the Ocala, Florida area.

I also have a basic Mountain Bike and occassionally ride on the Santos trails just south of town. I enjoy that as a break in routine, but the road bike is my favorite.

I can also be found playing around in my kayak on the Silver River or shooting my recurve bow. Oh yeah, I have a job too ;lol;

Welcome from SoFl.The Ocala area is great for outdoor activities including cycling.Some of us want to try to get up that way for some winter touring.I still ride an 80's steel frame Fuji which I feel makes an excellant touring/comuting bike for Fl. flatlands.

Hey Frank,

Welcome to the Forums from another FL resident. I'm a mt biker and love the trails at Santos. Can't wait for the campsites to be finished so I can spend a long weekend up there!

I'm down in Sarasota and do a lot of traveling to ride.

I also ride a road bike, but my true love is the dirt.

Hi Frank. Welcome to the forums. I was just in Daytona Beach in 1959. Anything much change since then?

Florida hasn't changed all that much since 1959, it still gets hot in the summer, the waves still break on the beach, and winters are still mild. There has been a slight growth in population though.

I just checked the new Santos trailhead last week, it is looking good. I'm not sure just how much they plan to do, but I believe it should open soon. You can use the alternate trailhead if you want to though.
