Mountain Biking - Carbon Water Bottle Cages

I just bought a 05 Klein Attitude XV, as my old Norco Nitro needed to be retired from service and because it's such a nice looking bike I was wondering if I could put some decent carbon cages on it to look better. My question: is there any particular brand or kind that is made for aggressive XC, they all look like they would be fine on my road bike but non that I've looked at look like they could take the pressure of a filled water bottle off road, and non explicitly say that they can take off road conditions. thanks for your input.

I would say the carbon's trick but for you to actually find them for sale might be difficult!!

yeh i was at performance the other day getting a new bottle cage..

there were about 3 choices... heavy duty cage... about 80grams
a light weight cage/ still very strong 60 grams
and teh c/f cage 45 grams...

okay the regular were like 4-7dollars.

and the forte c/f cage was 40 dollars on sale for 20..

idunno.. but 15 grams isnt worth another 15bucks... even if it has the bling factor of amillion beotches

Those are cheap beotches. They certainly won't be made of carbon fiber!

So true, ones with carbon fiber are so expensive these days, I can't work out why the extra cost for the carbon fiber cage

You don't usually just find carbon fiber laying around like you do with aluminum or steel. Anything rare will cost more.

They aren't carbon but check out the American Classic bottle cages. I use them on all of my bikes and they work great. You can get them for around $7 - $10 each.

gmoneyhobbit - as far as weight weenieism (new word) goes $15 to save 15 grams is cheap. Once you get to a certain point it is common to spend $2 - $3 for each gram saved.

Claimed weight is 28 grams, actual weight is 34 - 36 grams.

To save some real weight go with a Tune bottle cage. They weigh in at 4 grams to 9 grams depending on which model you go with. They aren't cheap though. B-T-P also makes a couple of cages that weigh in at 5 grams, 8.4 grams with bolts.
