Hey all,
So about 4 weeks ago my bike was in working condition and I planned on riding on Super Bowl Sunday (was a gorgeous day), but no one in my family wanted to take me to the trail (lame Super Bowl). So that week, I decided to fix the noise that was coming from my fork. It should have been as simple as taking the coil out of the left leg, degreasing it, putting some shrink wrap on it, greasing it back up and sliding it on. But on the early 04 Black's, Manitou put this little freaking washer in the compression rod assembly, not allowing you to take the coil out with out taking the whole fork apart. So I decided to (stupid move). I go to assemble it (after putting Enduro seals on it for the heck of it) and the dang thing doesn't work right. So I take it to the lbs and Manitou is sending a new damping assembly (although i'm sure that's not the problem, I probably just didn't assemble it right) that will be here Monday, then the mechanic will reassemble it Monday and have it done by Tuesday. So that means I will get to hit the trail on Sunday! In the meantime, I just ordered a new jersey and a new back tire (IRC Trailbear). It sucks having your bike out of comission cause you realize everything that is wrong with it and you end up buying stuff :(
Oh, and I've decided my next fork will be a zocchi rather than a manitou :)
Well to go back and see what else I might as well get while my rig doesn't work!
