Recumbent - Team Bacchetta shakes up the Ultra world

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Alan,
This Brevet course is a lot tougher than you can imagine especially if the weather is cold and rainy like most years.
Good luck to you in your sub 5 200k attempt.
Again I will post your results on my Blog. Have fun riding by yourself. Brevets are very social events.

Kevin, TGAM, NoGoSlow, Magilla, Tom Swift, Pops Malfoy,
"Are you not up for a quick 5+ hour ride in your area with one of those so called "slow & no good on the road lowracers"? Why poke along at 7 hours when sub 6 is doable on a lowracer Kev."
You have altered a "5+ hour ride, sub 6" to a sub 5.
You might consider taking a course in math at a community learning center to comprehend the difference between sub 6 and sub 5 including + and -.

Kevin Magilla TGAM,
I sent e-mail to you & GLR officials detailing the operations of the 8 support vehicles, Hummer video crew and coverage by WTMJ & Discovery Channel of this grueling epic race up and down the majestic Kenosha mountain ranges.
There will be no race if Mr. Paulo from GLR prohibits video crews covering this 200K brevet/race.

See you on April 29 Alan.
I have forwarded your emails to the GLR officials about your planned use of cars on the route. That is a violation of the rules. Only support is allowed at controlls. well see what happens Alan.
If you pull off a sub 5 200 K I will be happy to post your success on my Blog Alan. Just let me take some High resolution photo's of your brevet card to post on my Blog.
Later....

I forgot about the 35% 8 mile climb up the Janesville escarpment.
Not to mention the 12,000 ft. peaks at Mt. Whitewater, Dousman Pyrenes and the Eagle cliffs. Its no wonder that Lance and the Trek riders train in Wisconsin mountains all year round to prepare for the Tour.
You will get no argument from me that WI is the most difficult place in the USA to race Kevin . All those mountain ridges are beyond anything the Rockies have to offer. No wonder the best riders from around the world move and retire to southern WI. There is no place tougher to ride 2 wheels.

Lets be civil here guys, I think both of your bikes are great, and would kill to have either of them. I think it all comes down to the rider, it seems if you are happy with your bike stick to it. The thing I like best about bents are VARIETY. I don't think that this argument is impressing anyone. If you really want to argue I suggest you use your e-mail. In the mean time lets all just get along and share positive ideas to make the sport more accessible to new riders. Aren't bents all about being laid back:)

My posts on this thread were not to be taken too seriously. Did you really believe I was going to have an 8 vehicle support crew at a 200K WI brevet to film coastdowns? :D
Kevin figured out what is going on in this thread and the one at Bacchetta forums. He will have his opportunity to ride an ultra low recumbent at a future group ride. ;)

Dual 26 bents with bigger wheels have relatively slower speeds at HPV racing events. The recent results at the FL HPV race show the fastest lap speed posted by a team Bacchetta racer was 24.58 mph. When compared to chip timed non faired lowracer speeds of 28.57 -28.93 at HPV events in 05 the 24.58 lap speed posted by team Bacchetta is considered slow.
WOW,
I should get back into racing. If we're talking fastest lap times in a miss-n-out or 200m or even an hour, I could move the Bachetta quite a bit faster then 24.58.
Heck, I was pulling 28 mph laps on the Zox 26 during miss-n-outs on the San Diego Velodrome.

He didn't say the 24.58 mph guy was fast.

My point exactly. Engine matters. In the '96 WHPVC a guy on a modded BikeE won the unfaired events.

Killer B's need to sign you up on their team to race some track events in the midwest. They need someone with spunk to race team issued gear at the Cheddar Challenge.
