General Cycling Discussion - Is there a way to rank cyclists?

Is there a way to rank cyclists?

I would say - a cyclists who cycled Trans American Bicycle Path (6500 km) is for sure close to a cycling general.

Commuting by bike to work would qualify to a cycling petty officer.

Those who just cycle on a local trail for recreation should be Junior Cyclists.

It is human to rank things, isn't it? Any other ideas?

The only cyclists that need ranks or rankings are racers. The distance or time that one rides is irrelevant. When I see someone cycling, they are a cyclist, even if that person does not ride as much as me or anyone else.

Every time I see someone riding who obviously does not ride much, it makes me feel good. At least they are riding a bike when they could be doing something else.

Ranking is an interesting concept, Alexey. I guess a concern I would have about getting into such a ranking system, even in fun, would be where to place the relative values. Speed? Distance? Long-term commitment? Racers are very fast and have to have great training discipline, but does that rank them higher than a long term commuter who has been making a contribution to the environment for years?

I am on the northern shore of the Black Sea.

It is quite a distance from the US. It took us once 1 hr 40 minutes to fly to Vienna, Austria, and then 9 hrs 30 minutes to fly to Washington D.C.

But my post goes to the forum thread for about 1 second.

Rank should definetly have a bike affiliation. I mean could i be a 3rd spoke rider. or should i try to be a 6 spoke rider. who knows. i sure as hell don't
