Hey, I found this bike at the LBS for $345. seems to ride pretty nice. I do mostly xc riding. I currently have a GT Timberline FS. How much of an upgrade is this over the GT? Would I be much better off finding a nicer bike for $500 or $600? Heres a link to all the details.

I started moutainbiking in 1988/89 . My folks bought me a Mountaingoat Wisketown Racer with Deore XT 6-speed and Bullseye cranks(God, I wish I still had this one) . In it's day it was the best available . Today the $500 bikes that are out there would blow it away. I don't know much about the frame or the brakes on the bike you're asking about, but unless you are looking to try racing or ride off-road most of the time It looks like a pretty good deal. If you need a bike to get to school and just get around town , it should be fine
