I'm told, Lennard Zinn (tech writer for Velonews) discussed a "do-it-yourself", detailed method for installing a disc brake caliper mount. I've searched Velonews archives and found nothing. A little knowledgeable guidance here, would be greatly appreciated.

The way I've found to align everything best is to mount the disc to the wheel first. Then clamp the caliper with pads onto the disc using some air-pressure (or use a rubber-band to hold brake-lever closed would work too). Then rotate wheel over until the caliper is close to your fork. Then fab up your mounts to fit the caliper and fork. You want to be aware of shear and torque forces on the bracket and design it such that it experiences primarily tension with minimal bending....
