Bicycle Mechanics - Campy Ergo with Shimano 7 speed
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've done a search on this, and have found conflicting answers. Here's my situation - my 1985 Serotta has 126mm spacing in the rear, Shimano 7-speed cassette (not freewheel), and a 7 speed era Dura-Ace rear derailleur.
If I want to switch from Shimano downtube indexed shifters to Campy 8-speed brifters, do I need to replace anything else? Anyone had actual experience with this?

I don't have personal experience with this setup, but I can tell you that it'll work if you use an old Campagnolo derailleur (pre-2001) instead of your old Dura-Ace rear derailleur.

Thanks, looks like I'll be doing some Ebay shopping.
