Ok--i've asked this question before in other threads but so far--no answer
i recently ordered a set of deepv/black formula hubs wheelset---however, the black hubs do not have the formula brand name on them---i checked formula's site and all their models seem to have the brand logo on them. Is it normal for retailers to remove the formula hub logo? Why? I bought my wheels from Bens Cycles--if you go the the "hubs" link on thier webpage--they sell formula hubs separate, but when you click on the enlarged view, even their floor model does not have a logo on it.
Why would formula allow a retailer to remove their logo? That would seem to invite passing off of their product and trademark infringement.
Anyone know anything on this?
Formula makes a lot of hubs and brand them anyway that are wanted, some people want it to be Formula, some want it to be IRO, some want it to be Velocity, some dont want a name, some want it to be ______. Formula still makes their money regardless of/if a name is on it or not. you can probably get some Skanking Hubs branded if you talked to them and ordered their minimum quantity.

Thats odd--most companies religiously protect their brand name and logos and insist upon them remaining on products so that consumers know they are the real McCoy
although it probably would be cool to have "skanking hubs" etched in a checkered pattern on my hubs

there's a difference between a "company" and an OEM "manufacturer"
i dont know, it seems to me there are a limited number of companies making track hubs, and all formula made hubs look like formula made hubs (to my knowledge), i think most people will figure it out, and its not like they make sub-par hubs to be rebranded, theyre all the same quality. its not like shimano, which will make deraileurs for world class usage as well as cheapos for department store crap.

No there isn't--a manuifacturer of a product is organized as some typeo fo company, whethe rit be a sole propietorship, LLC, LLP or Corp.
My point is--whoever owns the trademark for "formula hubs" would seem to want it placed on their products--i undertsand companies that manufacture products often have different product lines--but most will place ther brand name logo and the model line on the product so consumers know what they are purchasing ans to establish brand loyalty.
like i said: its all the same hub, same quality, different logo, and formula still gets their money (maybe more for putting a logo on it at all) regardless.

not when the sole purpose of your company is to manufacture products for other companies.
just like 90% of the frames out there are made in 3 taiwanese factories.
(yeah it's an exaggeration, but you know what I mean)
One big factory in China built all of those hubs. "Formula" may or may not have import rights in a contract deal with that factory. Formula can then control distribution of those hubs and at the same time custom make them to order - 1000 units with an "N" for Nashbar, for example. Or black and blank for Bens.
way off topic, but analogous: same goes for blank CDRs (and i presume DVDR) about 9 factories in the world, however hundreds of brands, varying quality even within a brand based on the factory and batch.
